Bundled software is ok, bit simplistic but easy to use. The LCD screeen is superb and the keys feel well built if a little plasticky.
All in all, I would definately recommend this printer as a great all-rounder - not brilliant at any one thing but good at everything.

Really easy set-up - painfully slow...
I don't print a great deal but wanted something of an all-rounder and not something that's so cheap it'll fall to bits in a week. I needed fax, scan, copy and print and thought that having something that could print quality photographs would be a bonus (which it does). The printer itself is a bit of a beast but that's to be expected I suppose. Setup was an absolute breeze - Fax setup was practically immediate - it simply auto detected the line it was plugged into. I tested with a fax to and from Australia with no problems. Wireless to was very simple - had no problems with connection whatsoever. Bluetooth works a treat. Be prepared for the Windows install to take ages though (around 20-30 mins) which leads me onto the only gripe with this printer - speed. It really is that slow. If you want something speedy forget this. As I said though, I don't do that much printing so it's not a massive issue for me (hence only 1 star taken off).Bundled software is ok, bit simplistic but easy to use. Dont be confused by purpose of HP 5100
3 months ago, based on research and sales people to whom I spoke who advised me that this machine would be ideal for my secretarial business I bought an HP5100 officejet for producing corespondence in Word, Excel, DTP etc. I was not interested in printing photographs. I have since found out a) that it does not print WYSIWIG from Word, Excel and my DTP packages; b) that I cannot use it as a fax machine, because it will not use my NTL line as I have a voicemail. HP cannot not help with the colour or the fax problem, nor NTL although they both say that I can try paying for a software package to get it to fax.As far as I can see, it is great for photograph editing. Therefore, HP5100 is a machine for printing and editing photographs and not for a small businesses in the UK. It also clunks, bangs and rattles & is slow.56

The best thing about the printer is it's very small and totally portable, and you don't need a computer, in the past I had to take my laptop to view images any in detail. The printer has an index print function so you can select which images you want to print, it even has two quality settings. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

This is a fantastic product!!!!!. Its so easy to use. I had a demo in a store and thought"it can't be as easy as that" but I was wrong. The quality is fantastic,theHP paper is expensive so I tried Epson. I thought that gave even better results. The printer allows the best of both worlds. You get high quality images but you can get them instantly, Like those instant cameras. It prints very high quality 6 x4 images in no time.The best thing about the printer is it's very small and totally portable, and you don't need a computer, in the past I had to take my laptop to view images any in detail. The printer works but the software is very poor
When we purchased the printer we were expecting great things but feel pretty let down by the software.The scanning software simply doesn't work about 50% of the time and it is true what another reviewer reports on the build quality - it's a bit iffy.
I've reinstalled the printer software twice (downloading the latest version from the HP website) but this hasn't really helped.
I would recommend that you avoid this printer - particularly if you have Windows Vista!
