Good Laptop. Worth the amount spend for it.

I bought this laptop recently and I was impressed with its performance on the day I bought it. It comes with 256 MB dedicated graphics and around 270MB is shared after that with the systems memory. Although the laptop has got just 1 GB RAM, you can get excellent performance out of it. It has got more features as described.

Highly recommended . Good enough for gaming for the current games that are out in the market.

Looks great but has major problems

I've used HP Pavilion laptops in the past and have been impressed. I needed a desktop replacement and the dv7-1000 looked to be just the job. Unfortunately the one I bought has had problems from first use. It looks very good - great screen and keyboard, but it freezes all the time, even after full recovery of factory settings and checking that Vista and drivers are all up to date. Copying large files is a particular issue and results in total lock up of the machine every time.
