1.) The connector is on a stiff length of cable, and on the wrong side for my laptop (the connector is on the right). The dock has to sit next to the laptop, rather than behind it, and you'll need some blu-tack to keep it in place.
2.) It doesn't come with a power cable (it isn't advertised as such, but I assumed that was the point of a docking station). You can use the one supplied with your laptop, but that surely defeats the object of having a"quick dock". The extra power supply cost me another £40.
Apart from that, it does exactly what you'd expect it to.

Does the job
I bought this to use with an HP Pavilion tx1080ea. I couldn't find any information or documentation on the product before purchase, so took a chance. There's a couple of issues that would've put me off had I been able to find out about them:1.) The other reviewer had a problem with the battery and i would have to say he has a point. The laptop comes with 2 batteries the larger one lasts much longer than the other but adds considerably to the weight. This isnt, however, a huge problem for me as i usually dont use my laptop on the bus or train. You would still get a couple of hours out of it anyway. I think the reason for this short battery life has more to do with Windows Vista than the laptop itself. Many people with laptops that run on vista compplain about how it drains the battery.
Another slight niggle is that the speakers arent very loud. This is due to their small size. But the sound is very sharp and clear with headphones.
It also feels great. Very good quality keyboard that doesnt feel cheap like a lot of other light laptops can.
Overall i think this is a great product and would be good for anyone who is big into watching movies or games and needs a very sharp picture. Its also good for people who want to use it on the go due to its size and weight. However, it might not be good for people who are going on extremely long train/bus journeys.

Brilliant Laptop
I don't ever write reviews on Amazon but i was so shocked to see that someone had given this laptop one star that i felt compelled to do so. I got this laptop two months ago and completely love it. Its small, weighs only 2kg and has a fantastic screen. Its great for watching movies as the picture is very sharp.The other reviewer had a problem with the battery and i would have to say he has a point. The only downside I have is that it came without a power cable and I guess this is HP's way to either force you to use the one that came with the laptop or to purchase a second power pack to stop you having to unplug the docking station every time you wish to use the laptop on the go. Other than that minor flaw in the world of HP marketing, I would highly recommend this docking station. Just be careful which supplier you choose to deliver it as you may be met with endless excuses and delays.

A cool piece of kit...
I had a lot of trouble actually getting this product delivered and it took several failed attempts from the various sellers to finally get it to me but when it did eventually arrive, it turned out to be an absolute stunning piece of kit that not only has built in speakers and a multitude of ports on the back, it is also robust, wonderful to look at, a great space saver and the style and blue lights all compliment the blue glow and stylish looks from the HP DX2000 that I have docked with it. What's more you don't need an external monitor with this docking station as it utilises the notebook screen instead which can be angled to suit all heights and angles. I also decided to compliment the docking station recently with a blue lighted keyboard, mouse and mouse pad and the work station along with all of the blue tinged accomplices make for a nice workstation and office environment.The only downside I have is that it came without a power cable and I guess this is HP's way to either force you to use the one that came with the laptop or to purchase a second power pack to stop you having to unplug the docking station every time you wish to use the laptop on the go. Form and function in one!
This is a highly competent laptop. The ergonomics are excellent and it really looks stylish with a glossy but durable finish - the inside having an alloy look while the piano black exterior features a"swirl pattern" which adds style and interest. The screen, keyboard and pressure pad are excellent whilst the Altec Lansing sound system is very good by laptop standards. Battery life is a good average. In terms of performance it is fast and the 2GB of RAM and Core 2 T5450 processor give it plenty of punch that is needed to drive Windows Vista Home Premium. It is a feature laden too with 3 USB ports, an HDMI port, built in Bluetooth, Lightscribe disc labelling, a high-res webcam, mics and a rather handy little remote. In summary, a very stylish and well built laptop which combines quality, value and performance. Unreservedly recommended.16

A nice item fom HP (if you really need it)
Considering for the price of nearly £500 you can buy a complete PC, this item takes a bit of justification. In my case a failed 500GB external hard drive from Western Digital didn't quite cut it, but I bought one anyway.Like all hardware from HP this Home server comes with an easy to follow setup poster. Installation, whilst not a complete nightmare, was not a walk in the park either. I spent a fair bit of time tweaking my firewall settings in order for the unit to be found on my system. I wished i'd known too, that the CD-Key sticker was on the base of the unit - quite tricky to read this without pulling out the power lead.
Getting my router correctly configured for remote access was another minor challenge, allthough having a linksys router (an 8 port cabled BEFSR81 in my case) did help as it was for the most part automated.
I find the HP Media Smart Home Server easy to use now I am familiar with it. I have come to terms with being forced to logging on to my PC with a password (user accounts are essential for remote access)
With hindsight I am glad I bought the unit rather than getting another external hard drive. It is very usefull and I am filling up the storage space fast. Just as well it is easily expandable.
